From February 20th reading in Victoria: Bangladesh's development In The Hindu, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen compares indicators of poverty and development in Bangladesh with India's indicators. He argues for going beyond GNP per capita to find the real story. Bangladesh is one of twenty countries of focus for Canada's aid program. Bangladesh has been one of Canada's largest aid recipients for the last three decades. The US-based International Center for Transitional Justice reviews the recently-established International Crimes Tribunal mandated to prosecute Bangladeshi collaborators of the 1971 war atrocities.
